Data Deletion
Control your Midpoint data.
This page explains how to delete your Midpoint account data, request access or correction, and understand what may be retained for limited legal, safety, security or backup reasons.

1. Australian Privacy Principles Context
APP 11 requires reasonable steps to protect personal information and to destroy or de-identify personal information that is no longer needed, unless an exception applies. APP 12 supports access to personal information held about you, and APP 13 supports correction of information that is inaccurate, out of date, incomplete, irrelevant or misleading.
Midpoint’s deletion process is designed around those ideas: keep only what is needed, let users request deletion, and avoid retaining active app data longer than required for the service.
2. Delete Your Account In-App
The fastest way to delete your account is inside Midpoint:
- Open the Midpoint app.
- Sign in to the account you want to delete.
- Open Profile, Settings or Privacy & Data.
- Select Delete Account.
- Review the deletion prompt and confirm if you want to continue.
In-app deletion is intended to remove active account data linked to your profile, authentication session, saved home base, friend relationships, friend requests, saved places, group plans, votes, profile photo and push notification token where deletion is technically possible.
3. Request Manual Deletion
If you cannot access the app, email midpoint.syd@gmail.com with the subject “Midpoint Data Deletion Request”.
Please include:
- The email address or username linked to your Midpoint account.
- Whether you signed in with email/password, Google or Apple.
- A short confirmation that you want your Midpoint account deleted.
We may ask for extra information only where reasonably needed to verify that the request relates to your own account.
4. What Deletion Covers
Deletion generally covers active Midpoint app data such as:
- Profile details, username, email and profile photo.
- Saved home base and location identifiers.
- Friend requests, friend relationships and plan participation records.
- Saved places, votes, swipes, shortlists and plan winner data tied to your account.
- Push notification tokens and active session records.
Some group plan records may be changed, anonymised or de-identified instead of fully removed where deletion would affect remaining participants’ plan history.
5. What May Be Retained
We may retain limited information where reasonably necessary for security, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, legal compliance, backup recovery, platform enforcement, audit logs or to protect other users. If retained, this information should be limited to what is reasonably needed and should not be used for active app features.
Backup copies may take longer to expire through normal retention cycles, but restored backups should be handled consistently with completed deletion requests where practicable.
7. Access and Correction Requests
You may request access to personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct information that is inaccurate, out of date, incomplete, irrelevant or misleading. Email midpoint.syd@gmail.com with enough detail for us to identify your account and the information involved.
8. Timing
In-app deletion is intended to happen promptly for active account data. Manual requests are handled within a reasonable period after we verify account ownership and understand the request. If we cannot complete a request, we will try to explain why.
